If
your situation has to do with flying a tail wheel aircraft, then you have come
to the right place.
In the air, the tail wheel airplane is a normal flying aircraft. For taxi,
takeoff, and landing, the tail wheel aircraft represents an environment that
many have compared to learning to fly all over again. It’s just that different!
It takes quite a little while to learn the concepts, and to make your mind think
about the fact that the tail wheel is so far behind you! We are the experts in
tail wheel aircraft training. We are one of the only training companies in the
world that routinely trains pilots in both single and multi-engine tail wheel
operations. We own and operate several, and we can help you with the tail wheel
solution for almost any aircraft that you can find. All the way from the Piper
J-3 to the Douglas DC-3! You can also review a description of some of the
services that we offer TRAINING folder.
TAILWHEEL TRAINING IN YOUR AIRCRAFT
|
YOUR
SITUATION: You currently own a production or experimental tail wheel
aircraft. You may be getting ready to make the maiden flight on an
aircraft of your own construction. You feel like you could use some
additional training in tail wheel concepts, and some gusty crosswind type
takeoffs and landing with a qualified instructor before you have to do it
by yourself. Is there a good solution? |
Yes. And we think that you have a very good idea. We can help you either
transition to an aircraft that you have just acquired, or one that you are
almost finished building, or one that you already own that you may be feeling
less than adequate in. For the tail wheel training, we intentionally travel to
the closest runway with the most direct crosswind! We have 8 airports within a
few minutes, so we can train on runway 03, 05, 06, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 18, 21,
23, 24, 28, 30, 31, 32, 33, or 36! If there is a crosswind out there, we will
find it! It’s all about safety. We feel that if you are here for tail wheel
training, you need to fly in challenging conditions as well as on the nicer
days. If you only flew on no wind days from grass runways and did three point
landings, we wouldn’t be quite so concerned. We work on wheel landings as well
as three point landings. We practice takeoffs and landings on grass as well as
pavement. This is difficult training and if there is any break in the training,
it is only a break to wait for the wind to pick up some. We feel like the more
exposure that we can provide to you in adverse meteorological (wind and gust)
conditions, the safer and more comfortable you are going to be when you are
forced to encounter these situations all by yourself. This training has proved
to be invaluable to experimental aircraft owners and kit builders where one
wrong move could easily erase years of intensive labor, and where complete hull
loss insurance is not practical.

YOUR
SITUATION: You may be getting ready to make the maiden flight in an
aircraft of your own construction. Or you may need some of the FAA
required training and documentation completed.
Or you may just feel like you could use some additional training in tail

qualified instructor before you have to do it by yourself. Is there a good
solution? |
Yes. And we can help you with that solution. We think your concerns are
valid and you are wise to spend a little time now preparing to avoid an accident
or incident in the future. We can help you either transition to an aircraft that
you have just acquired, or one that you are almost finished building, or one
that you already own that you may be feeling less than adequate in. For the tail

can train and complete the tail wheel training and endorsement in our aircraft,
normally in two days. Our single engine tail wheel aircraft is a very clean 1976
C-150M Texas Tail dragger. The airplane is equipped with a Horton STOL kit, dual
NAV/COMMS including a Garmin 430, and a state of the art Garmin intercom/audio
panel.
